Excellent turned & carved chess set one side left natural the other side stained red. kings & queens with carved 'barleycorn' decoration to the bodies. Kings with leaf carved tops, bishops with carved split mitres, rooks with flags to towers. Set is a good example of the fine turned bone sets produced in England in the 19th century and of a large size.
