Fine large Indian ivory export chess set, one side stained green other side left natural, the set was made in Vizagapatam in India, one of the finest areas of its time for ivory carving.All pieces carved with elaborate foliate decoration, bishops with flaming mitres, knights as horses heads with decorated ranes, rooks as foliate decorated towers with figures dressed as sepoys bearing flags.Quite an unusual design for this type of set.
