Fine English ivory Chess set one side stained red other side left natural , Kings with double pierced galleries, queens with single pieced galleries, bishops with large open mitres, knights as fine carved horses heads with excellent detail, rooks as towers. This design of set has come to be known as a calvert pattern named after the maker Calvert, although it is now thought by many contempory collectors that these sets were made and most likley designed by William or Thomas Lund. The style of knight would cetainly suggest this. Set is an excellent size for this type of set.

Kings 4" / 10cm tall
