English ivory Set Circa 1770-90

Fine turned English ivory chess set one side stained brown other side left natural, the set is typical of english 18th century sets, the brown colour more fashionable in English sets of the 18th century , later sets in the 19th century being predominatly red.

Pawns & bishops with urn shaped stems, rooks as tapered monobloc towers. Shape & colour make this set an excellent example of the 18th Century English playing set.
