White king carved as king George lll of England the white queen as queen Charlotte, red king & queen as Chinese Emperor & Empress, white bishops as Christian priests, red bishops as mandarins, knights carved as horsemen, rooks carved as elephants with towers a top, pawns carved as soldiers mounted on horseback.

Set comes with original Fine Canton lacquered chess / Backgammon board the exterior with Chess board in black lacquer & gold the black lacquer squares with gold lacquered figures, chess board bordered by gold lacquer scrolling foliage sides with gold lacquered scenes. Exterior with gold lacquer decorated backgammon board, with 2 carved ivory shakers one stained red other left natural, 30 carved ivory backgammon pieces stained red & natural.

The pieces on carved puzzle ball stands with excellent carved detailed. These sets were made in Canton china for the export market in Europe.
