Circa 1850-1851

Fine Ivory Staunton chess set, one side stained red other side left natural, white king stamped ‘JAQUES LONDON’ , king side knights and rooks stamped with crowns.

Set comes in original Carton Pierre casket with Jaques red paper trade label to underneath “STAUNTON CHESS-MEN Registered No. 58,607, 5 & 6 Vict cap. 100 IVORY ENTERED No. 3073 H STAUNTON JAQUES LONDON”.

An excellent example the red labels start at entered # 3000 making this set the 73 made in the red label series.

The Casket in the Gothic Taste with chess board motifs and chess figures to the sides, the interior lined in burgundy velvet.

These historic Jaques sets all come with signed authors copy of the Jaques collectors guide

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
