Large English playing set turned & carved in bone, one side stained red other side left natural. The rooks surmounted by flags, knights a good carved horses heads, bishops with cross decorated miters, the pieces with multi turned decorated bodies.

Set comes with an English  leather & gilt tooled decorated folding chess board and a mahogany lift top box same period as set.
