Circa 1840-1870

Fine mahogany framed English chess board , the squares inlaid of figured walnut & satin wood. One of the corners with the original gilt metal hanging ring.

This type of board has an original metal hanging ring which indicates that the board would have hung up for convenient storage and decoration, most likely used in confined spaces.
