Fine turned & carved ivory English playing set, one side stained red other side left natural. White rooks stamped “CALVERT 189 FLEET STt”.
Set comes in English mahogany lift top box same period as set
Dorothy Calvert took over from her husband Jon Calvert in 1823 and continued manufacturing fine sets at the 189 Fleet Street London address until 1839.
