Fine turned & carved ivory chess set in the St George pattern, one side stained red other side natural. The fine detailed knights and style of turning are typical of sets from the London maker George Merrifield of London.

Kings 6.2 cm Tall

Recent research by Peter Armit has helped greatly in identifying the difference in design from Merrifield sets to other similar makers.
