REF1123 European playing set & board
Circa 1840-1870
Boxwood & ebonised playing set. The set has similarities to both English and Irish styles, the rooks are certainly the same style as the Irish Killarney sets of the same period, although the use of boxwood would indicate English or Mainland European rather than Irish.
The set has a rich colour and good original polished finish. Comes with an English mahogany board box of the same period, the mahogany and boxwood inlaid squares.
