Circa 1810

Fine French prisoner of war straw work box. Finely constructed with various coloured staw to represent a chess board to exterior the interior with backgammon board and two lidded compartments for pieces.

An interesting historic box, the pieces were thought to have been made by skilled French craftsmen captured in the Napolionic wars of the early 19th century.
