REF1275 English playing set by Calvert
Circa 1829-1839
Fine turned English playing set one side boxwood other side rosewood. Pieces with attractive turned decorated bases and multi turned decorated bodies. Boxwood rooks stamped “CALVERT 189 FLEET St” .
Set retains an excellent original polished finish.
Kings 9 CM Tall.
In my opinion the unsual style of knight and decorated rims to bases would indicate a late Clavert set , when the business was run by Dorothy Calvert.
All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
