REF1381 Early stamped “Calvert” Set
1791-1815
Boxwood & rosewood playing set , both boxwood rooks stamped “CALVERT 189 FLEET St” . The style of the knights, rooks crenulations and over all shape of the pieces would suggest this is an early example of Jon Calverts design set. The crenulations are the same style as early bone sets of the late 18th early 19th century , the knights shape and design of that period too.
A fine example of large size with good original patination.
Kings 10 CM Tall.
All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
