REF1443 English “Edinboro” Set, box & board
Circa 1860-1900

Fine turned & carved English chess set one side in boxwood other side ebony. The pieces similar in there shape to Jaques sets which were advertised as “Edinboro” pattern. The design thought to have been designed by Lord Jon Hay in the 1830’s-40’s.

This classic turned and pillar / plinth bodied set were made by many good English makers from the 1840’s upto the early 1900’s with Jaques adverts from the early 1900’s still advertisng this style of set.

Set with excellent detailed knights and retaining an excellent original French polished finish.
Set comes with mahogany slide lid box same period as set.

Set comes with an English vintage oak framed chess board circa 1900-1920.

Kings 9 CM Tall     Board 40.5 CM       Squares 4.8 CM

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
