REF1529 German / Austrian Playing Set, box & board.
1830-1870

Interesting turned & carved bone playing set, one side stained brown other side left natural. The set in the “Biedermeier” style with rooks as attractive tapered towers , the pieces typical of bone playing set being made in the 1830s and popular upto the last quarter of the 19th century.

Set comes with an attractive mahogany chess board with a raised moulded frame typical of the mid 19th century.

Set comes in mahogany lift top box same period as set.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
