Circa 1890-1915
Large mahogany framed chess board , the squares of inlaid boxwood & rosewood. The wide Mahogany frame with double mitred corners.
The reverse with black Jaques paper trade labels. “JAQUES & SON MAKERS LONDON”
Board 61 CM Squares 6.6 CM
Board has excellent original French polished finish.
The black label on boards came after the inset white label , most black label flat boards I have seen came with sets dating around 1890-1910 hence the dating. After the black label period was replaced by gold lettering.
