REF1886 Early English chessmen
Circa 1740 - 1780
Rare set of early English chessmen, one side turned in bone & stained red , other side turned in ivory and left natural.
This particular pattern was made in Britian in the 18th Century , kings & queens with large bell shaped bases, rooks as monbloc towers , pawns with bulbous turned bodies.
A very attractive large and rare chess set. Note the red side is turned in bone , once stained this would of hidden the material , whilst the more expensive material is visible on the white side, this gives the effect of an all ivory chess set , which would in that period have been more expensive than bone chessmen.
Kings 11.5 CM Tall
All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
