English Staunton pattern chessmen by Ayres of London. One side in boxwood opposing side in ebony. Kings side knights & rooks with crown stamps. The bases felted.
Set retains original french polished finish.
Set comes in original mahogany lift top box.
Kings 6.5 CM Tall Board 27.5 CM Squares 5 CM
Set comes with an English mahogany framed chess board with rosewood & boxwood inlaid squares. Board of similar period to chessmen. Retains original French polished finish.
These fine Staunton sets were made by Ayres of London and retailed by many sports and games outlets across Britian including Army & Navy Stores.
