REF2059 German Nuremburg Chessmen & board box.
Circa 1820 - 1840
German bone playing set one side stained dark brown other side left natural. from the master turners of Nuremburg. This type of playing sets design is known as the spindle pattern with slender turned bodies.
Set comes with same period German Chess board box, the exterior of Mahogany with satinwood & mahogany inlaid chess board to top. The body with single drawer and tunred bone knob. The interior signed and dated by the owner “FRITZ SCHUVENSEN 24 JAN 1842”
