Early English playing set one side boxwood other side boxwood ebonised. Pieces with attractive slender turned bodies on disc bases, Kings & queens with coronet galleries. Rooks as tapered towers typical of the 18th century.
Set retains good original patina. Pieces with turned screw pegs.
A rare example of the 18th century English playing set. This style was predominantly made with bone or Ivory. A wooden example such as this is scarce.
Set comes with original mahogany slide lid box.
