Large Irish yew wood backgammon box. The exterior with inlaid yew wood & arbutus chess board.
The opposing chess board sides border inlaid with fruitwood cartouches of Muckross Abbey in Killarney & Killarney Castle.
The border with inlaid clover foliage. The interior inlaid to represent a backgammon board with two central cartouches inlaid in boxwood and fruitwood representing harps.
The board comes with the original yew wood turned shakers. With 30 ebony and boxwood counters same period as the board. & four similar period carved bone dice.
A fine example of the Killarney ware which was prevalent from the 18th century untill the early 20th century making many souvenir pieces and fine furniture using materials of the Killarney lakes area county Kerry Ireland.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
