REF3015 English St George Chessmen & Box.
Circa 1850-1880
English chesmen , one side in rosewood other side in boxwood. The turned & carved pieces in the St George pattern. The set is attributed to Jaques of London as the design of knight and pieces are typical of this maker.
Set retains original french polished finish.
Set comes with original lift top box.

Interesting to note these St George chessmen came in these green leatherette lift top boxes with tartan paper lined interior. This is the fifth identical design set which I have had come in with this exact type of box. The larger sets were in two boxes.
These are genuine antiques! Great to play and a good investment.
