Fine English turned & carved chess set one side natural ivory other side stained red. The kings & queens with carved crowns & coronets with fleur de lys decoration. Knights as fine carved horses heads, the pieces with concentric turned decorated bodies typical of the second quarter of the 19th century.
An attractive large and fine turned chess set from a good london maker.
Chessmen come in mahogany slide lid box similar period to the chessmen.
