Fine turned & carved ivory chess set, one side stained red other side left natural.

A fine example kings with maltese cross, queens with fleur de lis decorated tops & fine carved knights the design typical of Lunds workshops.
The Lund family were London based turners and makers of fine goods in the 19th century.
Thomas Lund established the business at 57 Cornhill, London in 1804, initially selling cutlery, writing boxes, dressing cases and other fancy goods including chess sets.
William took over the family business in 1845 .
The stamp would date this set to 1835 – 1865 as both the Cornhill & Fleet Street address are on the label.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
