REF3235 Congress Chess Timer by Jaques
Circa 1890 - 1899
Early Jaques chess timer, the case in mahogany with brass fittings including the “stop catch” lever. Jaques made two timers in the 1890s a slightly cheaper variation without the “stop catch” lever and this timer with. The dials with the HAC cross arrows emblem , the Hamburg American Clock co. made the movements & faces. These were then assembled by Jaques with there brass fitted mahogany cases.
The brass plaque without Ltd inscribed would put this timer in the first 10 years of manufacture before the Ltd was added around 1900 .
The case retains original French polished finish. with original green baize felted base.
