Large turned & carved playing set one side in rosewood other side boxwood . pieces with detailed multi turned bodies , knights with fine carved detail typical of the Jaques St George and Hybrid playing sets. White king stamped “JAQUES LONDON” to rim. Pieces with green baize to bases.
An impressive makers set the King with Calvert design tops which were popular with the St George and Upright designs in the mid 19th century.
Chessmen come with a similar period oak lift top box.
Chessmen retain original patina.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
