English chessmen turned & carved in boxwood & ebony, the design of this set is known as the Calvert pattern , with point & conical top to kings, fine multi turned bodies, bishops with large open mitres, knights as large carved horses & rooks as towers.
Fine turned cocentric decorated bodies . Rich coloured patination to wood and retains original French polished finish.
Chessmen come with same period English oak dovetailed lift top box .
Same period English chessboard The mahogany frame with rosewood & boxwood inlaid chess squares. The fine board retains original French polish finish and patination.
