Large German bone playing set one side stained dark brown other side left natural. Pieces of typical Selenus pattern with kings and queens with pierced decorated petal shaped galleries , with slender turned bodies. Chessmen in the Selenus pattern , these fine sets were made by the master craftsmen of Nuremberg Germany.

The chessmen come with same period mahogany chess board with inlaid satin wood & mahogany squares. The attractive satinwood strung border board reverse with compartment contains 24 turned fruitwood draught / checker counters. Retains original French polished finish.

Chessmen come in same period mahogany lift top box with burgundy felted lined interior and brass recessed handle to lid. This high quality box retains original French polished finish.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
