Circa 1790
Fine large Georgian mahogany backgammon board, the exterior with parquetry boxwood & kingwood border, the top and reverse with inlaid boxwood shell conch cartouche. Interior with ebony & boxwood inlaid backgammon board, both sides with central inlaid floral cartouche.
The board box retains original French polish & patina.
A rare early board typical decoration & construction of the late 18th century , similar to high quality tea caddies & boxes of this period.
The backgammon board with fine turned backgammon counters one side ebony other side boxwood and two turned boxwood dice shakers. These pieces are English and a similar period to the backgammon board and four vintage dice.
