Circa 1840 - 1870

Fine turned & carved bone chessmen, one side stained nut brown other side left natural.  The Kings & queens with serrated & turned bodies, serrated coronets to bishops , with concentric turned decorated bodies to knights & bishops, rooks as monbloc towers, pawns with urn shaped stems.

The design , style of knights & quality of the pieces made by the master craftsmen of the Nurmeburg area.

Chessmen come with same period walnut slide lid chess board box , the board slide opens with lockable key lock.

The interior with compartments for the pieces.
