Fine ebony & boxwood weighted Staunton chessmen by Ayre of London. The large turned & carved pieces with loaded bases and green baize.
Retains original French polished finish.
This is the largest size Staunton sets that Ayres retailed . Fine quality sets in competition with the Jaques sets of the period.
Comes in original mahogany lift top box.
The chessmen come with same period English tooled leather chess board with cream & black squares.
