English chessmen turned & carved in boxwood & ebony, the design of this set is known as the Calvert pattern , with point & conical top to kings, fine multi turned bodies, bishops with large open mitres, knights as fine carved horses & rooks as towers.
The chessmen retain original French polished finish.
With same period English folding chess board.
The border with attractive inlaid walnut outer border the inner border with parquetry decoration in walnut & mahogany. The squares in satinwood & walnut.
The pieces housed in same period walnut slide lid chess box with mitred corners.
Chessmen come in same period English walnut lift top box.
