Circa 1859-1870

Fine mahogany framed chess board, The squares inlaid in satinwood & rosewood. With inset plaque “JAQUES & SON MAKERS LONDON”. The board with the traditional double mitered corners and solid mahogany underside, construction work typical of the Jaques boards.

Interesting to note The makers plaque is for Jaques & son . Jaques added son to plaque in 1859 and son’s was added after 1870 therefore Jaques & son labels date 1859 – 1870.

The board fits all sizes including large club.

Board retains an excellent original French polished finish.

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
