Large English chessmen turned & carved in boxwood & ebony, the design of this set is known as the Calvert pattern , with point & conical top to kings, fine multi turned bodies, bishops with large open mitres, knights as fine carved horses & rooks as towers.
Chessmen come with fine English walnut chess board , the attractive walnut box with carved decorated chess board to top , the interior which house the chessmen in satinwood. The board box mid 20th century.
