
REF3557 German Nuremburg Chessmen & board box.
Circa 1820 - 1840
German bone playing set one side stained dark brown other side left natural. from the master turners of Nuremburg. This type of playing sets design is known as the spindle pattern with slender turned bodies.
Chessmen housed in a fine South German walnut games board box , the exterior ebonised walnut and natural walnut , one side inlaid with walnut & boxwood squares as a chess board , the reverse with inliad nine mens morris board. The interior inlaid as backgammon.
The board from the Southern German region dating 1780 – 1820.
