Circa 1860 -1890
Fine boxwood & ebony playing set, the pieces with attractive bulbous bases typical of this pattern with fine detailed carved knights. All pieces with green baize to bases.
Set retains an excellent original French polished finish.
Set comes in original Mahogany slide lid box.
These sets were made by a number of good English makers such as Jaques of London and can be seen in there pattern book. They were made in much less numbers than the more common Staunton, St George and Upright pattern sets.
