REF1298 Large “Edinboro” Pattern Set.
Circa 1860-1900

Fine turned & carved English chess set one side in boxwood other side of ebony.

The design thought to have been designed by Lord Jon Hay in the 1830′s-40′s.

The name “Edinboro” was used by Jaques in thier adverts, this style of set can also be reffered to as Northern Upright or Edinburgh.

This classic turned and pillar / plinth bodied set were made by many good English makers from the 1840′s up to the early 1900′s with Jaques adverts from the early 1900′s still advertising this style of set.

An impressive large set Set with excellent detailed knights and retaining its original French polished finish.

Kings 12 CM Tall

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
