REF1625 Fine Dutch playing set, box & board.
Circa 1780-1800

Fine turned bone playing set , one side stained brown other side left natural. Kings & Queens as carved monarchs , bishops & rooks with opposing colour tops, knights as attractive slender horses.

The style is typical of Dutch sets turned & carved in the 18th century. Although the origin of this style could also envelope parts of Germany.

Set comes with an attractive European mainland mahogany casket in the 18th century style with plush burgundy colour felted interior, Casket circa 1800-1850.

With an 19th century oak & fruitwood chess board.

Kings 8.5 CM    Board 35 CM    Squares. 4 CM

All the sets go through a professional workshop before they go online, any minor faults such as chips or splits are restored, therefore the sets are all in excellent condition.
