Circa 1820-1850

Fine bone chess box, the exterior with bone chess board stained black and left natural. The sides with attractive fretwork panels. The interior lined in black baize and with gilt hinges.

This fine carved bone chess box was made in Geislingen Germany. A famous area for fine chess pieces from the 18th & 19th Century.

Chess box is illustrated in the fabulous publication “SCHACHPARTIE DURCH ZEITEN UND WELTEN” Page 158.
